Jesus was moved with compassion. The Harvest is His heart and the very reason He left Heaven. The Evil One has tried to destroy everything, every sacred life, every hope of life through pain and oppression and lies.
Jesus came to set the captives free and heal the broken hearted and bring in the precious Harvest of souls. He commissioned us and equipped us to follow Him and help Him in this life or death search and rescue operation.
We cannot make this about us. This is about them and their eternal destiny. No Excuses!

Satan's target has always been the church and the people coming out of darkness. Paul warned of these counterfeit versions of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and how false apostles, deceitful workers, even as Satan transforming himself into an angel of light. These false prophets were coming into the midst of the flock posing - as if sent by and in behalf of God. What is our protection from such end days treachery? You shall know, discern who they are, by their fruit. Discernment is not the same as judging.

So now we are “Following Jesus.” We believe what He said, now we can do what He did! What does that look like? What is the fruit of doing what He did? Miracles, praying, healings, bringing hope and the good news to others - good things.
It also looks like suffering, imprisonments for the sake of the Gospel, being hated, misunderstood and rejected. Following Him looks like admitting when we are wrong and standing our ground when we know the truth. It looks like forgiving one another. It looks like being persecuted for righteousness and laying down our lives that others can live and be saved. Doing what Jesus did can only happen if you know Who He is and Believe what He said!!!

Jesus said "follow Me". What does that actually mean in practical spiritual terms? Lots of opinions, books, and schools of theology have tried to extract the essences and deeper meaning out of those two little words. It is really very simple, so simple a child can do it. Just believe what He said and do what He did.
For starters, we really do not believe that we are new creatures and that old things have passed away and that there is now therefore not condemnation to those who are in Christ. We are still trying to be good enough to follow Jesus. There is a difference between “following Him and trying to follow Him.

Jesus laid out the overview for His disciples as to what they could expect in following Him. The course would be filled with obstacles. Just as the gospel was going to be resisted, they, as the carriers of the Gospel would also be falsely  accused as He had been and some would even die.
The key was to endure to the end. The Promise was that He would confess them before His Father in Heaven. We, as His disciples, are a part of the greatest thing on earth, and greater than anything the world has to offer, fame or riches, or the esteem of men. But it will be worth it all when we see Jesus and the celebration begins!

Jesus called the twelve disciples and gave them power to deal with disease and demons. The briefing also included an overview of the persecution, the strategy for bringing the message of the gospel, the types of resistance, the divisiveness of the Enemy and the need to endure to the end. It was not going to be easy.
They would kill Him and He wanted to prepare His disciples for what they would also experience. Family division, hostility, court appearances, and even death. Except for the advanced technology, nothing in the spiritual arena of war has changed much except now there in no where to hide. We still have the same power and the same message and the same dangers they had. We are all together in this with Jesus Christ Who is our Fearless Leader, King and Captain.
